Hi Illya

Many, many thanks for all your hard work in making the event a success. You must have been incredibly busy and all I did was turn up!

I thoroughly enjoyed the event - as I said in the introduction, it was the first time I've presented through skype at a major event and I've come away from it fired up to do something similar again.

I hope delegates found the subject interesting. I'd certainly love to hear from anyone who either has any questions or has news of any use they make of Skype.

Please feel free to use the landing page Illya mentioed above:
http://www.splendid-speaking.com/etas.html
I'll keep it live so if you want to link to it from your own blog or website be my guest.

All the best
Pete

Hi Illya, Maggie and the participants for my workshop on the Cambridge set texts. It was lovely to meet you all and to discuss the use of the set texts in the exam preparation classroom.

It's good that we have an opportunity through this blog to carry on the conversation. Yes, Shelfari is another excellent site, and hopefully we can agree that social network sites have a lot of potential to make the study of literature less dry and much more fun, and engage learners outside the classroom. Also, one of the delegates mentioned some resources by Black Cat Publishing for next year's texts. Hopefully we can share links like this here on the ETAS blog. Maybe we'll even set up a Book Club, who knows?!!

Thanks again to Illya and Maggie for all the work behind the scenes to make sure the technical stuff went smoothly.

Best wishes for your exam success,
Fiona

The workshop was fun and really useful. I'm hoping to use the survey function with my classes for needs analysis, for feedback on the class work and discussion topics, and possibly also as a catalyst for discussions in class.

>And now, some of the experiences I’ve had with twitter
You have shown me enough that I DO NOT WANT TO USE TWITTER

- you are making or changing plans based on random information
- tweets give useless news in advance of real dissemination with background
- you are listening to noise to get a few pieces of value

Frankly, sifting for gold takes too much time and there are better ways.
Using google, reading newspapers or using other media - where you have a much
more balanced "feel for what is going on in the world"

Hi Ellen
I'm glad to see you have found this site, and I thuroughly understand your outrage at what happened to you. I had a look at your post and it looks like you have had to take some real harrassing. This is perhaps a good time to add a word of warning about twitter.

I personally select the people I follow based on 3 criteria:
1-their biodata
2-whether people I know also follow them, or visa versa
3-their last few tweets.

I have also blocked people who want to follow me if I don't feel comfortable with their profile.

I hope you continue to twitter with more positive experiences and find the sunny side to outweigh the harassment you've had.

I am thoroughly disgusted with Twitter.

I’m an over-40 who joined Twitter a few days ago, posted a link to a humor article on malice – ironically! – and because a gang of little kiddies didn’t like the title, they have harassed me mercilessly ever since, even – I suspect – sending me malware. Here’s the link, if you’re interested:

Either Twitter is for everyone or only for the very young and very nasty. If it’s for everyone, it has to be better policed.

After a workshop in Biel on group facilitation we thought we'd follow it up with a blog here on the etas website. How do I start this? ??
